At Heart of the Community
Unique Venue
The New Milton Memorial Centre is the largest indoor community facility between Southampton and Bournemouth with an audience capacity of over 350. This, combined with a well equipped stage area, makes it ideal for large theatrical and musical performances, dances, parties, wedding receptions, lectures and Conferences.
Flexible Facilities
We are able to tailor our facilities to your requirements. In addition to the main Memorial Hall, which has a seating capacity of 350 theatre style or 250 at tables, there are three further rooms, the Festival Room, the Hampshire Room and the Coastal room, together with a large foyer & bar, a kitchenette which complete this unique venue.
The History
On 26th of September 1920 the war memorial in New Milton was unveiled and the Recreation Ground given to the people of the parish in memory of the 83 Miltonians who had lost their lives in the Great War. The Memorial hall was built in 1930 on land purchased from the Unionist Club (now Conservative Club) by the Post War Brotherhood. It was used as a public hall and was very active in the 1930s with several local organisations paying rent for use of the building as a venue for their activities.
Special Events
A on-going programme of live band nights, acoustic evenings, concerts and other special events, such as craft fairs and much more continues throughout the year, all with refreshments from our bar. Have a look and see what’s planned, tickets are available from our office Monday to Friday or via Eventbrite.

If you’re keen to be involved in the community and would like to help us improve what we offer, why not become a member of ‘The Friends of the Memorial Centre’? Whatever your strengths & abilities, we welcome the support of volunteers across the board and you would be playing an important part in helping to improve what we offer and keeping the Centre ‘at the heart of the community’.

Our Trustees
Neil Stevenson
I have acted as a Trustee of The New Milton Memorial Hall since 2015.
Born and brought up in New Milton, my family roots are in farming and growing in the area. Most of my career has been in horticulture supplying supermarkets with house plants from Double H Nurseries in Gore Road and as a director of businesses growing tomatoes and cucumbers in Sussex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. I hold an MA in Engineering and now work part time while pursuing my interests in gardening, cycling and travel.
Peter Parslow
I am Peter Parslow, a trustee of New Milton Memorial Centre since 2021. I am a Chartered software engineer, that is, an experienced computer programmer. My family worked for The Leprosy Mission in Bhutan and Nepal in the 1990s and returned to the UK and computing in 2000. We moved to New Milton after I got a job at Ordnance Survey in 2008. I now work part time, chairing the ISO technical committee for geographic information. I’m enjoying having a bit more time to spend in this community, not just with the centre, but as an active member of New Life Church, chair of trustees of Counselling Together, kayaking and sailing as opportunities arise.
Alan Watson
I am Alan Watson, the new ‘kid on the block’ having become a Trustee of the Centre on the 1st April this year, when it became a CIO (Charitable incorporated organisation).
Having spent a lifetime in Sales, Marketing and Event Organisation mainly within the IT Sector and running my own IT Software business for a number of years, I and my wife Jean, moved from Little Chalfont in Buckinghamshire to Barton on Sea in early 2009. At the same time, I fully retired from the life of commerce and quickly found myself needing something to keep my brain cells ticking. The New Milton Residents’ Association (NMRA) fulfilled that role very quickly and in 2014 I became Chairman, a position that I held until March of this year.
I have also still been active with my background in IT, having run NMRA’s Community Website for the last 5/6 years ( www.newmilton.net , enjoying keeping my ear to the ground with what is happening in and around the New Milton community.
