Help lead us into a new chapter.
New Milton Memorial Centre has served the people of New Milton since 1920; it was rebuilt after a fire in 1981, and we are currently refurbishing and looking forward to evolving to serve the changing community. We have the largest multi-purpose room in the district. With four bookable rooms and many regular hirers, we are in use pretty much all day every day, with a wide variety of users.
The trustees are responsible to maintain the permanent endowment of the property for recreational and leisure use by local people. A separate Management Committee looks after the regular running of the centre together with a small team of employed staff.
The trustees and management committee work together on large projects, with the trustees taking the lead on the ongoing conversation with New Milton Town Council (as trustees of the neighbouring recreation ground) towards a Cultural and Community Hub.
After some years and leading us through the pandemic, our current chair of trustees is stepping down. We are looking for a new chair. Ideally, you would have previously acted as a charity trustee and have some experience of managing a recreational facility and of fundraising. We expect trustees to volunteer on site from time to time. The role includes chairing trustee and public meetings, ensuring clear leadership and good communication, attending management meetings when possible, and representing the centre at functions, meetings, and in the press.
